Prof. Dr. Thomas Koch
CONFERENCE WELCOME ADDRESS
On September 21 and 22, 2026, the 7th Hydrogen Engine Conference
"H2ICE + ReFuels" will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany.
This year, we've chosen the Karlsruhe Convention Center as the venue for our conference.
Once again, renowned speakers and leading experts from industry and academia will present
and discuss a wide range of topics related to hydrogen engines and renewable fuels.
This year's conference is held under the guiding theme "H2ICE or ReFuels?" –
a deliberately provocative question intended to stimulate discussion.
At the same time, society faces the important challenge of determining whether multiple energy carriers
can successfully coexist in the future or whether focusing on a smaller number of energy solutions is the more effective path forward.
I am therefore particularly pleased that, together with my colleagues
Prof. Dr. Olaf Deutschmann and Prof. Dr. Thomas Jordan,
we will once again present an exciting conference program featuring numerous contributions from distinguished organizations,
including MAN, Tata, Brunel University, KAIST, TNO, and Formula Future.
The entire organizing team looks forward to welcoming you to Karlsruhe
at the end of September and engaging in inspiring discussions with you.
The long-term future of molecules as energy carriers for mobility can no longer be stopped.
At the same time, the search for their optimal role and application will continue to require intensive discussion for many years to come.
We hope that this conference will make a valuable contribution to this important dialogue.
Kind regards,
Prof. Dr. Thomas Koch
